I bought a small kiln. The cheapest and smallest I can get here in Germany. Yesterday was my test and I was sooo nervous!!
Ich habe ein kleine Brennofen gekauft. Der billigste und kleinste, der ich hier in Deutschland gefunden kann. Gestern war mein Probe mit dem Brennofen und ich war soooo aufgeregt.
3 rings, 1 with yellow zircon. 2 leaves and 1 'Love' tag. Really proud that they are out without any pop. Lol....
I put them in cold kiln, then heated slowly til 700°C (1292°F). Let 10 mins at that temperature. And slowly the temperature went down. Took them out as my kiln reached 200°C (392'°).
3 Ringe, 1 mit gelbem Zirkon. 2 Blätter und 1 'Love' Anhänger. Ich bin wirklich stolz, dass sie ohne irgendeine Explosion o.ä. fertig geworden sind. Ich habe sie in den kalten Brennofen gelegt, dann langsam auf 700°C erhitzt. Habe sie 10 min bei dieser Temperatur belassen und langsam wieder die Temperatur verringert. Ich habe sie rausgenommen bei 200°C.
This ring needs 20g clay. Ring shank 10g and the decorations (flower and leaves) 10g. It should be my best ring, but it isn't :-( Look at the pic below.
Für diesen Ring braucht man 20g clay. Der Ring selbst 10g und die Deko auch 10g. Es sollte mein bester Ring sein, aber er ist es nicht geworden. Seht selbst unten.
Yes, it crack at 1 place !!!! I wrapped it good with ceramic fibre cloth and also dried it 3 days in room-temperature. So sad.. And look at the rough surface. It is smooth to touch but even look rough. I guess it came from fold in wet clay. A Lesson to remember !
Ja, er ist an einer Stelle gerissen!!! Ich habe ihn gut mit weiche Mineralfasserplate umwickelt und ihn auch 3 Tage bei Raumtemperatur getrocknet. Traurig. Und schaut euch die rauhe Oberfläche an. Es fühlt sich glatt an, aber sieht rauh aus. Ich glaube es kam durch Risse im feuchten Clay. Eine Lektion zum Nachdenken.
The next ring is leaf ring. Better qualitat. yay ! For the texture, I pressed the clay onto leaf with strong veins. Easier process, but if we like to have more texture, layered leaf method is a good choice.
Der nächste Ring ist ein Blatt-Ring. Bessere Qualität. Für das Muster habe ich den Clay auf ein Blatt mit deutlicher Struktur gedrückt. Einfacherer Prozess als mit der Schicht-Methode.
I took 3mm zircon for this ring. And it survived :-) If you see the ring shank, another wrong treatment for wet clay. Look rough even it is smooth like baby-po.
Dieser Ring hat ein 3mm Zirkonsteine. Und er hat geschafft :-) Schöne Stuck geworden. Aber immer wieder falsche Verarbeitung mit feuchten Clay. Sieht rauhe aus aber es fühlt sich glatt wie Baby-Po.
'Love' tag needs to oxidized. That the letters come out and you can read it. The leaves are for earrings, but they ar not similar. So decided for anything else.
'Love' Anhänger braucht noch zum oxidiert. So alle Buchstaben strahlen gut und wir können das lesen.
Die Blätter sind für Ohrringe gedacht, aber die sind nicht gleichmässig. Ich habe für was anderes entscheiden.
That's all ! My journey with kiln is done. Satisfy and happy though not perfect. Proud to make it and promise to be more clever in next journey :-) Oh if any of you knows about put pieces in hot kiln, let me know. I would love to try it. Is it a kind of other way to say... next journey is ..... ?
Das ist alles !!! Meine Reise mit der Brennofen ist am Ende. Zufrieden und glücklich allerdings nicht perfekt. Wenn jemand von euch über das hinein tun von Schmuckstücke in heißen Ofen wissen? Teilst du mir bitte. Ich möchte gerne probieren. Und es kann sein, meine nächste Reise ;-)
